How Did Las Vegas’ A’ja Wilson Earn MVP and Player of Year Awards?

Las Vegas Aces superstar A’ja Wilson has been a dominant WNBA player since her first season in 2018 when she was named Rookie of the Year and an All Star. Now in 2020, she was won the league’s Most Valuable Player award and also Player of the Year designation from the Associated Press. Head coach Bill Laimbeer is continually impressed with Wilson’s excellence, both in her play and how she steps up when it matters and is willing to lead.

“She knows who she is, she knows where she’s going,” Laimbeer told the Associated Press. “She knows that she’s in charge, and she’s responsible for our team. She has taken this upon her shoulders.”

Besides earning the two individual awards, Wilson scored 23 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in a 66-63 clinching-game victory over the Connecticut Sun to advance to the Aces first Finals in their history.
