Phoenix Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray is taking the NFL by storm and took things to a whole new level this past week when he completed a “Hail Murray” to Deandre Hopkins in the last seconds to defeat the Buffalo Bills 32-30. Here’s how the NFL should be impacted according to Forbes.com. –By Brian Hurlburt, Magnifying Excellence Podcast Host.
According to Forbes.com writer Alex Reimer, “The Arizona Cardinals selected Kyler Murray in the NFL Draft because they weren’t willing to give Josh Rosen another chance. It is the blueprint every woebegone NFL team should follow. A quarterback’s draft status should not provide him with job security if there is a better option available. It’s safe to say Murray is better than Rosen — by a lot.”
The point Reimer is making is that because Murray has become “Excellent” so quickly, teams should not wait around and hope draft picks at quarterback improve over time. If a team makes a poor decision, move on quickly and find the next one. The Cardinals cut ties with Rosen after only a couple seasons because, even after Rosen was the team’s top selection. But Phoenix coach Kliff Kingsbury went bold and picked Murray as the team’s first pick anyway.
Here’s the “Hail Murray”.
